Hospice Receives Outstanding Business Acheivement Award for Social Responsibility

On Friday, October 18, 2019 at Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre, St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia-Lambton was thrilled and honored with the acceptance of the Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Award for Social Responsibility. This recognition is a true testament to the monumental support we’ve received from the community of Sarnia-Lambton. We are thankful for every hand that’s contributed to Hospice growth and high-standard of care and compassion since our inauguration.

Organizations in the Social Responsibility category were nominated for their mission to deliver on a promise of maintaining balance between the economy and ecosystems and take a stance on important social issues that benefits society.

This week the award will make its way around the Hospice residence, resource centre and palliative care clinic to ensure that every volunteer, doctor, staff and board member is recognized and thanked for their outstanding dedication to our mission and values.

As concluded in our application for this award, “St. Joseph’s Hospice although under the legal ownership of a non-profit corporation is truly under moral ownership of the community of Sarnia-Lambton. Currently Hospice must raise $1.6M annually and we have been successful in this annual endeavor since 2009, thanks to our moral owner in the community. But moral ownership extends well beyond the financial realm. Over 1600 members and their families have spent their final days with us in a refuge and strength and understanding, a home-like environment of care. Additionally, thousands of members have sought Hospice’s numerous bereavement and caregiving programs for both children and adults”. This award is dedicated to our wonderful community and supporters. We are humbled by the abundance of your generosity and honored by the opportunity to care for you.

Thank you.
