Home Away From Home

My Dad, Ken, was sent to St. Joseph's Hospice on Saturday, January 15, 2021. The moment he got there, the nurses and PSW’s treated him with such kindness. Rachael and Sisto went above and beyond to get him anything he needed. Spoiling him with ice cream, bringing us tea and coffee, their humour alone made us smile and relax. I can not express enough how much we appreciated Sisto with each passing day. My Dad said, this is a home away from home and he was so thankful to be there. Sadly, Dad passed away on January 19. We had hoped for more time as I’m sure all do.

Precious Memories

August 10, 2021 - It has been a month today since my father passed away at Hospice. He had an incredible 12 weeks there, and although the pain of losing my dad is fresh, the grief shifts to gratitude as a result of the experience that we all got to have as a result of his stay there. Dr. Lilly and the staff were able to help make my dad comfortable, and we were given the opportunity to have such quality time with him, where precious memories were made.

And her answer was, “I hear the Hospice is a very nice place.”  From the moment of our arrival I knew that her answer to Dr. Kim’s question was an understatement indeed!
