Volunteer With Hospice

Hospice is a very old concept, meaning a place for sanctuary for the poor, travelers, the sick and the dying. Today, we use the word hospice to refer not only to an organization of people devoted to caring for the dying, but also to the philosophy of care that values quality of life until death.

Hospice volunteers are men and women of all ages, occupations, and interests. Volunteers today bring a diverse set of skills to the job and many are knowledgeable about the hospice movement. Hospice would not exist without its dedicated and caring volunteers.

St. Joseph’s Hospice screens all of its volunteers based on industry standards and best practices. All volunteers are required to:
